Couples that train together, stay together!

Do you ever find yourself getting caught up in the 9-5pm syndrome? Getting home, cooking dinner, eating and then falling asleep on the sofa? Or putting on TV but then end up just scrolling through social media, with your partner sat next to you doing the exact same thing? Ask yourself this question: how much quality time do you actually spend with your partner?

Luckily I don’t find myself falling into this trap too often! I’m fortunate enough to have a career in martial arts, health and fitness. Combine this with the fact that my Wife runs a dance school (The Ruby Slippers Show School) and you’ll soon realise that a set 9-5pm doesn’t ever happen for us! With that said, we still have to make time for each other as our businesses never have an ‘off switch’ and our work schedule can be different each and every week…

Sure, TV is relaxing but it’s not engaging with one another. We all need downtime but we also need time to spend actual quality time with one another each week. For my Wife and I, we like to do Korean Martial Arts together (I teach her), we dance together (she teaches me) and we go to the gym together (we teach each other)!

I think over time I’ve come to realise that it doesn’t matter what you choose to do for quality time together. What’s important is that you choose something that involves actual interaction with one another and more importantly, it’s something that you both genuinely enjoy!

Martial arts and dance compliment each other perfectly and can be so much FUN, especially when done with your loved one. It’s always great to see each other develop both physically and emotionally. It also gives you both something to look forward to each week where you can really connect!

Don’t fall into the trap of 9-5pm followed by snoozing and scrolling - make some plans with your partner, follow them through and watch what happens! More energy, more fun and more quality time together!
