How you do anything is how you do everything. Take your time to read that again and fully process this concept... I truly believe in these words. I also believe that how you approach anything in life can be down to a number of factors but mindset certainly plays a huge role in any outcome.


When I first heard this saying, I instantly related to it. It made me reflect on achievements in my life, obstacles and challenges I have faced, as well as the relationships that I share with friends and family.

What I came to realise is that my mindset, personality traits and habits made me tackle anything and everything in a similar way.

I tend to always have an eye for detail, spend more time than I should on tasks to over deliver and I generally over think decisions because I care so much. These traits can be both my strengths and my weaknesses.

One thing is for sure, I wouldn’t be the person I am today without martial arts. My mindset, traits and habits have certainly been moulded and developed through martial arts training.

It was never just about punching and kicking. Martial arts gave me bullet proof confidence as a child and taught me that I could achieve anything if I put my mind to it. Earning a black belt at the age of 10 years old proved this to myself and this was always a positive reference throughout my childhood. This non-quitting attitude then transferred to my school life, college and University education.

As a teen I was always a skinny kid that wanted to bigger, stronger and have more muscle. Again, martial arts gave me the regimented discipline to train smart, hard and consistently to this present day where I feel I have achieved the goal that I set when I was just a teen.

Whatever your outlook on life, know that the mindset and habits that you form will transfer to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that you do. If you’re unhappy with your current circumstances then make a change!
